Adverbial Clauses of Place, Condition and Concession


Learning Objectives:

2、Judge the meaning of adverbial clauses of place and distinguish the difference between where and which

3、Judge the meaning of adverbial clauses of condition, concession in reading.

4、Use adverbial clauses of place, condition and concession correctly in writing

Activity 1 Watch and guess the place

Wherever you look, you can see trees, mountains and lakes.

As long as you a785be here, you will be impressed by its unique natural wonder.

Even though it was winter, visitors are still shocked by its beauty.  

Read sentences above and underline which is an adverbial clause of place ,condition, concession.

Activity 2 Reading and Understanding

Li Ming is a student majoring in archeology, and she is interested in Chinese natural heritage. She likes reading and is doing a research on Chinese cultural heritage.

Every winter, she would choose a heritage site to stay where it has so many things to explore. This winter, she chose one place where he enjoyed not only beautiful landscape but also its cultural heritage. This place gave him a deep impression. She thinks wherever she goes, she will not forget its beauty and special cultural heritage. She told his classmates the place_____ she went to are really worthwhile to go.

Activity 3 Reading and Understanding(condition)

  The workers there promised LiMing that she can stay in Jiuzhaigou on condition that she worked as a volunteer. She was sure that she would find out the mystery of the wonder as long as she concentrate on her research. She found there are some precious species in the site.

  But his parents were worried about her safety. They feel uneasy unless she came home. They are wondering whether she could a785be back.

Activity 4 Reading and Understanding(concession)

Even though her parents urged her to go home, she still kept on her research. Whether it rains or snows, she would get up early , grabbed her device and went into the mountains. Cold as it was, she went on doing his research outside in the forest. Every day she would cover more than ten miles of land, observing and analyzing the plant and animals.

She said:” no matter what result the research is, I would continue my work.”
