教学目标:这两课时主要的目的是让学生学习有关日常交通工具的名词和相关搭配的动词,并了解磁悬浮列车是世界上速度最快的,并体会这种车的优点,从而培养学生的民族自豪感。在阅读课文中通过学习作者第一次在澳大利亚乘火车旅游的经历,详细描写了旅途中的活动和途中的风景,并介绍了Ghan train的由来一文,通过旅游经历介绍风光特色,帮助学生学会运用过去的用语做回忆,写游记并介绍风光。
Introduction 部分复习和学习有关日常交通工具的名词和相关搭配的动词,通过激活学生有关旅游经历的图式,引出本模块的话题。
Cultural Corner部分是一篇关于上海磁悬浮列车干线的文章,让学生知道这种列车是世界上速度最快的,并体会这种车的优点,从而培养学生的民族自豪感。
Reading and Vocabulary 部分是本模块的主要内容,介绍了作者第一次在澳大利亚乘火车旅游的经历,详细描写了旅途中的活动和途中的风景,并介绍了Ghan train的由来。通过学习生词以及短文,训练学生的微观阅读技能。
教学方法:这两课时以My First Ride on a Train为话题,通过在作者的澳大利亚之行来介绍其独特景色。通过模块教学,使学生学会用正确的时态和短语来描述自己的旅游体验和游记,并掌握有关交通工具和各种地点及活动的词汇。学生对话题应该是很有兴趣的,所以教学中要考虑让更多的学生参与进来,让他们主动,老师要好好引导,充分体现新课程标准的理念。从Introduction,cultural corner 到 Reading and vocabulary的过渡很自然,也很深入,一环扣一环。学习完交通工具的英文单词后,马上进入身边的磁悬浮列车体会,在过渡到用交通工具去澳大利亚旅游所见所闻,最后形成自己的旅游游记文章。话题由浅到深,由易到难,层层深入升华。在课前要充分利用百度搜索引擎准备好这两节课的教学材料,课件,音视频等,设计好学生的互动活动以及教学图片,PPT课件过渡要自然,学生的学案要精要有重点。第一节主要是学习交通工具单词并了解磁悬浮列车的一些常识,学生要会用学习过的单词describe the first time you travelled a long distance。我采用头脑风暴的方法由transportation一词展开学习交通工具单词,先让学生尽力回忆交通英语单词,然后借助于百度收索下载的交通工具图片进一步学习记忆巩固,当然也包含磁悬浮列车在内。尔后,学生讨论最喜欢什么交通工具,哪些是天上和地上,水上用的,各有什么优缺点,从某处到某处用什么工具展开小组活动讨论,为下文描述自己的第一次远程旅游做铺垫。在引入磁悬浮话题时,可以直接进入到cultural corner部分后在描述自己的旅游经历。第二节课主要是阅读课,了解澳大利亚的一些风土人情,采用pre-reading,while-reading和post-reading三个步骤,读前用澳大利亚国家图片引入话题,从地理位置,人口,城市,动植物,风景名胜等方面入手。步步为营,把学生慢慢引入到课文中,先快速浏览全文,了解大意,处理一些比较简单的问题,如找该文的中心,在细读过程后处理书中自己设计的问题和课后的问题。在读前,可以让学生听一遍课文的录音,矫正学生的单词发音,至于课文的语法重点,我放在第三节课。第二节课主要让学生对澳大利亚这一个远洋国家有一些感性认识,了解一些跨国文化和说英语国家的差异。
Step 1 Lead in
The teacher will tell the students today we are going to learn Module 3 My First Ride on a Train. What do you think of the topic? First of all, I want you to tell me as many words about transportation as possible.Then, the teacher writes down the word "transport"on the blackboard to consolidate the previous words about the topic.I think using the way of brainstorming is fantastic.If the students can not give you many words that you expected,don't be anxious here.Just at this time ,the teacher will use some downloaded pictures from the search engine "Baidu" to further learn news words.

Step 2 Discussion
Do with the activity 2 on page 21 and answer the questions
Q1. Which of the vehicles travel on roads?
Q2. Which of them travel on rails?
Q3. Which of them travel in the air?
Q4. Which of them travel on water?
Q5. Which of them can you use to travel a long distance?
This part is not a785bplex and I bet the students can do it quickly individually.The students may discuss their advantages and disadvantages in class if time permits.
The teacher will use these pictures to consolidate the new words again.

Step 3 Practice and Talking
Ask Ss to make sentences by using the proper verbs in Activity 3 on page 21.
(让学生复习与交通工具名词搭配的动词短语,得到巩固的作用。)
Step 4 Speaking
Just imagine you want to go to some place and which way do you choose. Describe the first time you traveled a long distance. Say how old you were, where you went and who you went with and ask some of them to report to all.
(新课程要以学生为主,在任务中完成教学,在活动中学习,说这正是语言输出的好方式,练习口语表达能力。)
Step 5 Cultural Corner
After learning some news words about means of transportation,we are going to learn an essay about Maglev in Shanghai. The teacher will ask them the question------How much do you know about Maglev?

Step 6 Individual Work
Ask Ss to read the passage and answer the following questions.
1.What are the main differences between a maga785bically levitated train and an ordinary train?
2.What are advantages of travelling on a Maglev train?
If necessary, the teacher can help them.
(学生了解磁悬浮列车的优点和与普通火车的区别,增添了民族自豪感。)
Step 7 Conclusion
The teacher will sum up the words about transport and some information about MAGLEV.
(一堂课归纳总结帮助学生加深本堂的内容记忆,得到事半功倍的作用。)
Step 8 Assignment
Prepare for the 2nd period" Reading and Vocabulary".
