说课稿:

My teaching material is from the English book for Grade 3, M8 U1 Is it a monster?

The teaching contents are as followed,two children saw something in the park while they were flying a kite, they tried to guess what it was and got scared when they thought it was a monster, but actually it was a kite.

There are some new words: monster, new, kite, or, don’t know, no, not, help. And new sentence structures:Is it a .... Yes, it is. No , it isn’t

 

The students are all from grade three, they have learned English for two years, so they know some English, and they have some good learning habits, they are not afraid to speak English, they like guessing and playing games. What is more, they have learnt what is that, what is this.

 

So ,my teaching objectives and difficulties are as followed.

  1. Students can read and understand the meaning of new, or, I don’t know. Students can read and use monster, kite, help, no correctly.

    2.Ss can ask questions with the the sentence “is it a....” and answer questions with yes it is , or no, it isn’t In a proper way.

  1. This material could also be adopted to teach the Ss survival skill, when they are in danger, they could learn to use the word help.

    The teaching difficult point is the pronunciation of is it a .....?

    Since children love watching cartoons, in the warm up, I am going to show Ss some cartoon characters and ask them what can they all do ? The students may say they can all fly. Then I will show them another picture, tell the students it can fly too, ask them to guess what it is with the sentence is it a...?in this way, I can stimulate their interests and lead in the new word kite.

    In order to understand the word kite better, I am going to show them more pictures about kite, and ask them to look and say, it is a ...kite.After seeing so many beautiful kites, I want to fly a kite, Sam wants to fly a kite too.We are going to listen to a story about Sam. And I will ask them a question, what kind of kite does Sam fly? Then we are going to listen to a second time, and I have another question, is the kite new or old?they are going to listen, repeat and check.

     

    Part 2

    Sam likes flying a kite, what about his friends. After showing the picture, I will ask them what can they see in the picture? And where are they?Then I am going to draw grass and flowers so the students can understand the background of the story better. Then I will ask the students to look at the two children carefully, their eyes are wide open. What do they see? I will ask the students to listen and watch, and answer, what do they say?Let the students learn the new sentence structure, I don’t know. They don’t know, what will they ask?

    Then we we are going to move to the second picture. When introducing the new sentence structure, I will use listening teaching method as young children learn easily this way.I will play the video and ask the students to listen and repeat. And I will ask them to read this two sentences with emotion and gesture.

     

    3  In the next picture, I am going to show the image of dog, and ask the students to guess what will they ask, then listen and check

    4 怪物 I will play a scary sound, and ask the students to use their imagination to guess what will they ask, because they have learned the sentence structure is it a... so  the students may give me as many answers as possible, such as, is it a monkey, dog, and I will ask them to listen and repeat and check.

     

    In order to understand the meaning of monster better, I will show them two more images of monster and play the scary sound. They feel scared when they see monster, what about the two children? Are they scared, what do they say? Then I will ask them to practise the two pictures in pairs and ask 3 or 4 groups to show. Besides, I am going to present the two meanings of help. One is when you are in danger, you can say help, another is when lend sb a hand, you can also use the word help.

    Review, retell.

    In order to help the students use the structure is it a ... Yes it is, no it isn’t freely and correctly in certain situations, I designed three games.
