The topic of the module is about war and peace. And the reading practice passage mainly talks about Winston Churchill and his famous lines  during the Second World War. So, the teacher should not only instruct Ss to read quickly and efficiently to get the main idea and some information they need, but also cultivate their integral abilities like listening, speaking and reading. Meanwhile, after reading, Ss should learn the famous lines of Churchill.

Step 1 Pre-class preparation

Play a piece of music named The First Lady by Zhang Jie before class.

Enjoy the music

1. to relax before class

Step 2 Pre-reading (Lead-in)

1. Give three questions according to the music played before class:

Q1:  Have you ever heard of the song before?

Q2: What can the song remind you of?

Q3 For Zhang Jie, Xie Na is his first lady, but for China, who is our first lady?  

2. Play three pictures of Churchill, and Ss say Sth about him,

Answer questions together.

Look at the pictures and say Sth about him,

To introduce the first lady of China to refer to the great man in Britain during the Second World War

-Winston Churchill.

To introduce Churchill to the Ss.

Look through the passage and choose the main idea of the passage.
